Buni Yadi Boy is no ordinary novel. It is a highly captivating personal account of a Yoruba boy who found himself entangled in Buni Yadi village, North East Nigeria. This account unearths the weaknesses of the criminal justice system often compounded by poverty, gender inequality, ignorance, and bigotry. Buni Yadi Boy sheds light on how to turn the diversity of the Nigerian population into a platform for national healing, unity, and development.
The Buni Yadi Foundation is not just a story—it’s a movement. Our vision extends beyond personal experiences, reaching towards a unified society where diversity is celebrated and compassion knows no boundaries. Join us on this journey of change, hope, and transformation.
The Buni Yadi Foundation was founded by Niyi Ayoola-Daniels now a lawyer, who while a teenager in Secondary School was a victim and survivor of false criminal accusation several years ago in Buni Yadi village, which was then in the old Borno State (now Yobe State) of Nigeria. After experiencing his own traumatic ordeal and overcoming it, Niyi felt a deep sense of compassion and a calling to make a positive difference in the lives of others, particularly the children in Buni Yadi and beyond.
The Foundation's roots trace back to Niyi's personal journey of healing and transformation. Learning of the tragic murder of 59 students in Buni Yadi stirred memories of his own trauma there. Despite anguish, Niyi emerged as a beacon of hope, shifting from victim to catalyst for change. Fueled by compassion, his vision extended beyond past traumas, recognizing dire conditions for out-of-school children. The Buni Yadi Foundation embodies his vision, aiming to provide welfare, education, and justice. Niyi and his wife Leticia officially founded the foundation on April 29, 2021, driving a mission of hope and transformation for out-of-school youth. Through outreach, scholarships, and compassion, the foundation offers brighter futures. Niyi's journey is a testament to the power of compassion, inspiring change in Buni Yadi and beyond. The BYF-Scholarship Programme is a project aimed at empowering internally displaced children in Nigeria through educational opportunities. Thirteen (13) children from the Durumi IDP Camp, who expressed their desire for education, have been carefully chosen to be beneficiaries of this initiative. The selection process considered their individual aspirations and the potential impact that education can have on their lives. Through this scholarship programme, these deserving children will receive support and resources to pursue their educational goals, fostering their personal growth and providing them with a pathway towards a brighter future.
